Copyright (©) under Thai Law means the exclusive right to undertake any activity that is related to work that an innovator has created. Rights under copyright will be acquired immediately after an innovator has developed the work and without any registration requirement. The innovative works that are subject to copyright are literary works, musical works, sound recordings, dramatic works, pantomimes and choreographic works, architectural works, works of visual art, including pictorial, graphic, and sculptural works, motion pictures and other audiovisual works and other works that are related to the literary, scientific and art domains.
Works that are not subject to copyright include: daily news and facts, laws, regulations, orders, Supreme Court decisions, etc.
The rights of the copyright owner include the right to: reproduce or alter the works, publish or lease the work, etc.
Generally, the copyright remains in effect for the life of the author plus fifty years.
The owner of a work may notify the Department of Intellectual Property regarding their name and details of their innovative works. Although registration is not required, it may be beneficial in case of a dispute
